Hello all, and welcome to WISE!
WISE is a welcoming environment for all interested in STEAM to explore topics they are curious about and deepen their blossoming love of science. As a student at my school, I started to realize that the number of girls in STEM classes and clubs was not good enough. Why was the number of girls on the robotics team quickly diminishing? Why are there barely any girls in the computer science classes? Why are there way more boys enrolled in BC Calc than girls? How was I gonna change that?
And thus, WISE was born. We are 5 years old now and I am so proud of what we've accomplished. We have learned about optics, made ice cream (scientifically), made bridges, solved crimes, coded ada fruits, and more! But most importantly, we have made a community of girls who dive into STEM, actively search for opportunities to learn, and are activists for themselves and others. We have also made a community of people who support girls in STEM, encourage them, and are not afraid to work alongside them.
We can't wait for what's to come, and look forward to each meeting we create, each event we host, and each person we meet through this club!
