GEARS Day is a day-long camp intended to educate high school girls about the engineering profession and inspire interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. You will participate in hands-on workshops focusing on various engineering disciplines including bioengineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science. Their vision is to create a world where girls have a lifelong passion of STEM. TechShopz are free, hands-on technology workshops. There are 50 topics to choose including coding, movie editing, jewelry design, digital marketing, cybersecurity, and more! And confidence in their use of technology throughout their careers.

Offers volunteer opportunities for teens. Teens can assist at workshops that are already scheduled to run at local libraries and community centers or they can organize and lead a workshop at their local middle school.

Connects more than 300 community-minded high school juniors and seniors from nearly 100 communities to employment, skills development and service. They're awarded paid summer internships with local non-profits such as Boys and Girls Club of America and Habitat for Humanity and participate in a national leadership summit in Washington D.C. The Student Leaders Summit focuses on skill building and creating a more civically engaged society.

An intensive six-week encounter with college-level mathematics for talented and highly motivated high school students. It is demanding and expanding. Participants spend a major portion of each day actively engaged in doing mathematics (not simply learning the results of mathematics). HCSSiM students live in the dorms at Hampshire College in Massachusetts for six summer weeks, and study and play in its fields, woods, and academic buildings (not typically in that order).

HCSSiM 2020 will cost $4913 per student. This fee covers tuition, room, and 3 meals a day for six weeks as well as a recreation fee. 

We offer financial aid, with all decisions based on need. Financial concerns should not discourage applications, and we will not let money issues prevent a student from accepting an invitation.  Financial decisions are confidential and will not influence the selection of participants.

Allows students to develop deeper understanding in areas such as mathematics, biology, physics and computer programming via traditional classroom instruction, hands-on projects and engagement activities. In addition to their academic experiences, students also have the opportunity to collaborate, and develop meaningful relationships with peers from across the country.

There is no cost for tuition, housing, nor dining for students admitted to the Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS). Students will be responsible for books, supplies, transportation and recreational expenses. An intensive 5-week-long summer program for mathematically talented high school students, designed to expose these students to the beauty of advanced mathematical ideas and to new ways of thinking. More than just a summer camp, Mathcamp is a vibrant community, made up of a wide variety of people who share a common love of learning and passion for mathematics. At Mathcamp, students can explore undergraduate and even graduate-level topics while building problem-solving skills that will help them in any field they choose to study. 

The base cost for Mathcamp 2020 will be $4,500 USD. After financial aid, the final camp fee will be between $0 and $4,500, determined on a case-by-case basis depending on individual family circumstances. This camp fee includes tuition, room, board, all extracurricular activities, and local transportation to and from Burlington International Airport (BTV). There is no application fee.

Brings a multicultural group of high school students together for six days of intensive journalism training. Students will learn from professional journalists and get hands-on training in writing, photography, television broadcasting, online media, and reporting. The Princeton Summer Journalism Program (PSJP) is intended for low-income students with excellent academic achievement who are committed to pursuing a career in journalism. You must meet at least one of these socioeconomic conditions: The combined income of your custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) plus child support payments, if any, must not exceed $60,000, you qualify for free or reduced-price lunch in your high school, and/or, you qualify for an SAT or ACT fee waiver. 

All costs to attend the summer program, including air or ground transportation to and from campus, housing, meals, technology, and resources, are covered by the program.

The Princeton Summer Journalism Program (PSJP) is one of the only programs of its kind offering a free, innovative residential journalism and college prep institute for high achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds. Over ten days every summer, up to 40 students from across the country explore current events and world affairs through workshops and lectures led by Princeton professors, professional journalists, and alumni on campus. The summer program culminates in the publication of the Princeton Summer Journal, the student-produced newspaper. During their senior year, students are matched with a personal college adviser, who will work with them on their college admissions process.

Tell PROMYS is a six-week residential summer math program at Boston University for mathematically gifted high school students who are carefully selected from across the U.S. and around the world. Thanks to the support of partners and sponsors, families in 2019 will be asked to contribute $5,000 towards the actual per-student cost (which is over $7,500). Any family whose income is below $60,000 is also strongly encouraged to apply for additional financial aid through the financial aid process as is any family for whom payment of $5,000 would be a burden. There is full and partial need-based financial aid (for domestic students). Offer scholarships such as, the Breakout Fellowship, the AMS Epsilon Fund Scholarship (this is a substantial or full scholarship).

Simons Fellows are matched with Stony Brook faculty mentors, join a research group or team, and assume responsibility for a project. The Simons Fellows conclude their apprenticeship by producing a written research abstract and a research poster. At the closing poster symposium, students are presented with a $1,000 stipend award. Participants may elect to live on campus with other students or to commute. If you choose to live on campus you have to pay $3,200. No aid available.

Leads participants on a journey in advanced mathematics through lectures, guided research, and group problem-solving. In a social environment centered on mathematics, participants explore current lines of mathematical research, the historical development of important areas of mathematics, and applications across scientific disciplines.

The tuition for the SUMaC summer is $7,000.

Financial aid is available in the form of partial and full scholarships. Aid is granted based upon need, as well as other factors including merit. Designed to bring together young people from around the world who share a passion for learning. Telluride students, or TASPers, attend a seminar led by college and university scholars and participate in many other educational and social activities outside the classroom. TASP is a free summer program. There are no fees for applications, books, or tuition. All meals are provided. You are only responsible for the costs of getting to and from the program site. Most students also bring with them a small amount of pocket money. In cases of demonstrated financial need, you may apply for assistance in paying for travel as well. It is the policy of the Telluride Association that no student be prevented from attending the program for financial reasons.

Opportunity for students to take college prep and business fundamentals courses taught by Penn State faculty. Participants will also get a glimpse of what college life is like by living in residence halls during their two-week stay on Penn State’s University Park campus.

Some scholarships are available for students with financial need. To be considered for a scholarship to attend the BOSS program, enclose a statement written by your parent/guardian explaining your family's financial situation. Program attendees are required to provide their own transportation to and from the University Park campus.

You will be assigned a coach who will provide you with hands-on, individualized support throughout the college application and essay-writing process. For some exercises, such as your career self-assessment, you will work independently. For most activities, you will work in small groups. For special guest speakers and general-interest lectures, the full USC Bovard Scholars cohort will come together. On Saturday mornings, you will take a full-length practice exam to simulate the real exam process. We offer the program at no cost to students or families.  USC will pay for transportation to and from campus for students coming from outside of Southern California.

You Help students discover the connection between biomedical research and their life! There is something for everyone!

Essay Contest- Open to students in grades 7th-12th, and recognizes students who demonstrate a superior understanding of the connection between their life and biomedical research. Winners will receive cash prizes. 

Poster Contest- With 5 themes, this K-12th grade contest provides the opportunity for students to illustrate different aspects of biomedical research and science through art. Winners will receive cash prizes.
Digital Media Contest- NEW this year for 6th-12th grade students. This contest allows students to show the connection between their life and biomedical research through a video or animation. 

All contests are open to students in Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, and New Jersey.

All winners, their parents/guardians, and teacher will receive an invitation to our Annual Awards Dinner in Hershey, PA on June 5, 2020.

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Foreign Disease-Weed Science Research Unit has two distinct missions united by a common relationship to plant pathology and the unit's unique BSL-3 plant pathogen laboratory and greenhouse containment facilities at Ft. Detrick, MD. 

Applicants must be at least 17 years old, US Citizens and currently enrolled in high school or an accredited college or university and will be continuing their education into the Fall semester. Selected candidates will be STEP appointees and receive pay from the GS 1- 4 levels ($10.60-14.59/hr depending on education and experience). Dorm rooms at nearby Hood College are available for out of town students on a first come, first served basis.

The principal goal of the Hutton Program aims to stimulate career interest in Fisheries Science and Management among high school students from underrepresented groups, such as women and minorities, in the fisheries profession today. The Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program is a paid summer internship and mentoring program for high schools students, sponsored by the American Fisheries Society (AFS). Accepted students, known as Hutton Scholars, are matched and mentored by a fisheries professional for a hands-on fisheries science experience in a marine and/or freshwater setting.

Coriell Institute invites a limited number of motivated students to participate in a Summer Experience program to gain insight into the workings of a renowned research institute.

The internship-like program runs during the month of July, Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The 2020 Experience will begin on Tuesday, July 7, and end on Friday, July 31. A stipend of $1,000 is awarded to each student upon their completion of the program. Student housing and meals are not provided and participants are responsible for their own transportation.

Wistar’s High School Fellowship in Biomedical Research provides an opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of current biological/biomedical theory and research tools and techniques at a nationally recognized nonprofit research institution.  Wistar scientists and their laboratory teams serve as program mentors guiding students through the planning and practice of daily research experiments and activities. 

The dates for the 2020 Program are June 22 to August 14. The selection process will include an interview of qualified candidates.

The LRSM has organized a free PSSI four week summer program for local high school students interested in materials science and engineering since 1993. Typically 24-28 students, usually juniors but occasionally well qualified sophomores, are accepted. The program consists of lectures on materials, a computer lab, experimental labs, and field trips to both industrial and Penn facilities. Students are drawn from schools in the Delaware Valley within easy commuting distance of the LRSM. Students from under-represented groups in science are encouraged to apply, especially those from the School District of Philadelphia, women, minorities and the disabled.

The “SSP experience” accelerates your academic and personal development as you approach important life decisions. Afterwards you will really know whether a STEM major at a selective university is your path – or not. This special summer experience is for current high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in exploring the field of engineering. The program is designed to acquaint participants with the engineering profession, the academic expectations of college, and the nature of life at a university.

This unique 10-week research internship offers a total-immersion experience in real-time laboratory research at Sanford for motivated high school students with an aptitude for biomedical sciences. Work alongside scientists as part of the research team, connect with peers through in-house scientific interest groups, and present your work as a scientific poster at the Sanford Research Symposium. The National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp) is a residential science education program for young STEM enthusiasts the summer after they graduate from high school. Students from around the country (two are selected to represent each state and Washington, D.C.) are challenged academically in exciting lectures and hands-on studies, and have voluntary opportunities to participate in an outdoor adventure program, gain a new and deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and establish friendships that last a lifetime. Students who are selected will attend the NYSCamp FREE of charge.

MDI Biological Laboratory offers summer research fellowship opportunities for high school  students with an interest in developing scientific research skills. We welcome applicants who desire hands-on, research training experience within an advanced laboratory that complements current resident research programs. The only costs borne by the student are travel, laundry and voluntary recreation activities off campus.

Each summer, students from all three countries spend 3 weeks in Greenland for a two-part JSEP experience. First, they spend two weeks in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland for the Greenland-led Kangerlussuaq Science Field School. During the third week, students travel to Summit Camp, an American research base that sits at 10,000 feet atop the Greenland Ice Sheet, for the Dartmouth-led Science Education Week. Travel, accommodations, and meals are provided at no cost to participants. Students must provide regular clothing, including a sturdy pair of hiking boots/shoes and rain gear. Extreme cold weather outerwear is supplied by the program during travel to Summit Station.
